I wonder how things went...
I was out today for appointments (believe me-it wasn't fun...lots of tests and pokes, blech) so there was a substitute. Your kiddo will be able to give you the ins and outs of the atmosphere of the classroom but I know what was supposed to happen. Today was Augustine's first day and I hope it went well. For meeting, students shared how they are going to help every student be able to learn. They proved that they knew the spelling generalization by finding words in books and around the room that also followed the pattern-short vowel sounds in multiple syllable words. Then, they continued on in the writing process. Hopefully, most of them finished today. The substitute read, One Green Apple about a girl that is new to the country and school and what she felt like being new. They then were to talk about how to help Augustine feel more comfortable. (In the book, it was a friendly smile that really helped.) They continued looking at non-fiction text to find some of the specific text features, read independently and visited the library in Reader's Workshop. In Math Workshop, they continued with their Choice work from yesterday so worked with patterns and practiced place and value. They worked on their Ohio Studies Weekly about Ohio and the United States in Social Studies. As long as there is a good report from the sub, we'll get a potato head piece and we'll have to count because we should be getting pretty close to our first celebration! I'm crossing my fingers!

*sigh*
We had a typical day. Well, it was our first indoor recess so that was out of the ordinary. But, other than that, it was typical. In meeting, we watched Caine's Arcade and loved it so much, we watched Caine's Arcade 2 also! Ask your kiddos about these movies and about OUR community cardboard challenge on October 10. I hope you all can make it! Then, we finished our short vowel practice sheets and continued on in the writing process. Some are choosing to publish using Google Apps. They can work at home also. AND, they should know how to get to it. If not, hilliardschools.org; Students tab; Elementary eSchool; Google Apps; they then log in just like they would at school. In Wonder, we finished up with Summer and moved on to Jack. He has no idea why Auggie is mad at him. This should get interesting! In Reader's Workshop, we read independently and checked out some non-fiction texts while working on a scavenger hunt for non-fiction text features. I was also able to meet with some kiddos and we had a great chat about the non-fiction story in our StoryWorks, The Evil Swirling Darkness, about the Joplin tornado and the features of non-fiction text but also about the vocabulary from the story: pulverize, debris and supercell were some of the words we discussed. We had Art, lunch and indoor recess and a surprise of our new student, Augustine, stopping by to check things out! I was impressed with the kids that came over and introduced themselves to him. Quiet time was almost quiet...but it was needed and has been a blessing that we will definitely keep. Sometimes, the most active kids don't need more activity but some independent and quiet time to center and calm themselves. Then, we completed an ST Math challenge together and I showed them some new things like the fluency practice they can do to help with their basic facts. For Math Workshop, we continued to practice what we've already learned about place and value and numbers through millions (some need more practice) but we also moved on a little with patterns. They asked for some more time so tomorrow, they will continue to work with this. Finally, our day ended with Social Studies. We brought out the old school text book on Ohio! We looked at the copyright and saw that it is even older than them! But, we also discussed that Ohio's history hasn't changed and that this is still a good resource for learning about that. However, we'll need to look elsewhere for more up-to-date information about the economy and government.

Waiting forever...
I saw this shirt on Pinterest and I totally need it, especially after today! Lol!
We had a great morning meeting where we decided that we want a special handshake or greeting just for our class so we are trying to figure it out. Then, we shared about things we are proud of from over the weekend: cleaning or helping clean up, getting a new TV and winning games were some of the responses. We played popl with multiples of 5 and wrote new goals. Our focus as a class this week is for quiet work time. Since we are using the same short vowel words from last week, we completed some practice sheets where we had to pick out the short vowel word from a pair of words. Then, in Writer's Workshop, we continued on with where we left off in the writing process. We began to hear from Summer in Wonder and why she is friends with the "freak." (She doesn't call him this and doesn't really understand why everyone else does either.) Auggie finally decided to trust her and her friendship. We had a VERY short Reader's Workshop because we had a community meeting to talk about the upcoming Community Cardboard Challenge. I urge you to check out Cain's Arcade on YouTube which is where we got the idea for this amazing day of play. I can't wait for October 10! (I'm going to show the video to the class tomorrow for meeting.) We had a fantastic assembly and gym so we earned 2 potato head pieces! We used our quiet time today for a purpose and completed a learning styles survey using Kidzmet. We don't want the district to know each kid by a test score so this is a way to personalize learning for them. All students in the district, K-12, are taking this survey! We had some technical hiccups but it was fine. I started panicking when I looked at the lesson outline for math and realized that we are on Day 16 of the unit. Great! However, the test is on Day 21... Ahhhh! I wasn't confident that we were there yet so today, we practiced and identified our needs as individuals. I worked with those that needed my assistance and I think we are in a better place now. I also realized when computing 10x bigger that A LOT of them do not know their basic multiplication facts so that is homework this week-to practice our facts. In Science, we completed our Fairy Tale challenges and recognized that they were better teams or groups this time around. Kudos! We didn't get to Wonder time today but I'm hoping we do tomorrow.

Fantastic Friday!
We had a good day. We began with "speeches" for Student Council (StuCo). We had 7 kiddos tell us why they would be a good representative and I have to say that ALL 7 would be amazing representatives! I'm glad I didn't have to vote! I'll tally the votes this weekend and let them know the results on Monday. Then, we continued with the writing process and building our sundaes. I know this is a weird metaphor but it has really stuck with them. They are taking the time to add sprinkles (check punctuation and spelling) in order to make the perfect sundae (story). Then, we finished up with Via (for now) in Wonder. She's a fun character and I love her down-to-earth personality. She's a realist but also an optimist. In Reader's Workshop, we checked out the awesome web resources that StoryWorks provides and some LOVED reading because they were able to check out the 'extras' online. We also read independently and completed any work that didn't get finished this week that went with the non-fiction story (if your child has this for homework, they didn't use their time in class wisely...). After Music, lunch and recess, we once again, calmed down with quiet time. Today, some chose to add to our padlet for the week during this time. Others read, drew pictures or did some writing in their writer's notebooks. Then, in Math, we watched a video about patterns and learned about Fibonacci. One kiddo said, "How did he ever figure that out?" I know! However, I challenged them to look at things differently-maybe with a mathematical eye and maybe they would see things differently. In Math Workshop, they looked at patterns with growing shapes and tried to see it not just their way but other ways. They also checked in on their goals--so far, so good! They also were able to get on ST Math and work on patterns within our numbers (4, 40, 400, 4000, 40000, etc.). We ended the day finishing up our fairy tale STEM challenges. We'll find out if they "work" on Monday!

Say Cheese!
Today was picture day! Every student gets their individual picture taken for the yearbook and their library card. Re-takes are November 10 if you choose to have pictures retaken--check out your kiddo's library card for a preview of their picture. You can order pictures online at hrimaging.com if you didn't send in your order today. You can also still send order forms in tomorrow. However, you do not need to order pictures for your child's picture to go in the yearbook.
Our day began with cleaning. They left the room a MESS! Mr. Dave had to even come down and vacuum up dirt from a spilled plant. Geesh! So, we took some time to tidy up and organize our star boxes and binders. Every paper has a home! No homeless papers! Help your kiddo stay organized by going through their binder with them. You can check out all the work we've been completing and stay involved in what's happening by doing this. Then, we learned about Kidblog and got logged in and blogging! Thanks, PTO for purchasing subscriptions for us! :) After Kidblog, we went and had our pictures taken, did not earn a painting in Art :( , ate our lunch and played at recess. After recess, we decided to try a little Quiet Time to instill a calmness to begin our afternoon. Ask your child about quiet time. Then, in Math we went over our Exemplars Rubric and read what our math should look like. During Math Workshop, we completed or revisited our Exemplar, looked at what 1,000,000 looks like, solved some math problems and some may have played ST Math. We ended Math chatting about how to read and write math numerals. Finally, our day concluded with working on our fairy tale STEM projects.
*I tweeted a lot of pictures today...check them out! @ADE4thGrade

Assessment Day
Well, I was out in the hall the entire day reading with your children and assessing where they are in their reading abilities. This is only one snapshot of your child as a reader but every student is at or above grade level! Your child will be able to better tell you what they did in the classroom. I can tell you what I put in my plans for the sub to complete. Hopefully, they match!
In Meeting, students played, "Just Like Me." Mr. Smith also taught them some Japanese! They sorted their words in Word Study and found that this week's generalization is also short vowel sounds but with multiple syllable words. In Writer's Workshop, they continued with the writing process and focused on paragraphing while drafting. Mr. Smith read, The Name Jar and they talked about the main character but also what the author did to make us know this about the character. Then, in Reader's Workshop, they looked at non-fiction text features, read independently and Wednesday people visited the library. They came in from recess sweaty and gross smelling so they must have had a good time! In Math Workshop, they worked on an Exemplar-a real world problem that takes problem-solving, reasoning, partner work, etc. They also completed some other problems and activities during choice time but with the level of the volume coming through the door, I'm not sure how much work was completed. Finally, in Science, they worked together to create structures for their fairy tale STEM challenges.

OK start
We had an OK start to the week. I wouldn't say it was great. Our morning was good but the afternoon wasn't so much...We lost a potato head piece but I also handed out some warm fuzzies during Number Talks. We are a work in progress.
Our day began with our meeting and we greeted each other with a silent greeting and shared about our "day off." After the Pledge of Allegiance, we did a category challenge--Favorite Foods. Congrats Juan with naming 10 of his favorite foods! Next, we took a pre-test for lesson 3 and then continued on with following the writing process in Writer's Workshop. Via kept telling her perspective in Wonder and we also talked a little bit about R.J. Palacio and why she chose to write Wonder in this way. It helps us to understand books by putting ourselves in the author's shoes but also to become better writers by understanding their craft. Then, in Reader's Workshop, we read independently, re-visited the non-fiction story in Story Works, Monday and Tuesday kiddos visited the library (library visits will now be weekly) and completed a vocabulary worksheet with words in that story. After Music, lunch and recess, we had a stressful Number Talk. It was a quick and easy talk but p)ut forth a strategy to aid in their efficiency strategies. Then, I modeled a "think aloud" while watching a LearnZillion video. (These videos are embedded into my Canvas page and are for them to use as needed in and out of class to assist in understanding the big ideas.) During math workshop, they practiced identifying the place of numbers, value of numbers, looked at 4th graders as hundreds, thousands and millions (10 x bigger) as well as played Perfect 500 or worked on a problem-solving activity involving Juice Boxes. Our day ended with Science. I read, The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Rapunzel. We pointed out the "difficulties" of each tale and I issued the challenges. What is your child's challenge?

Big Meanie
Yes, I had to put on my angry eyes today. We started by discussing the report from the sub which was that they talked way too much and got way too goofy/crazy. We went over our rule, expectations, job roles, etc. and discussed our goals and how to make sure that EVERY student is safe and able to learn. Then, I read, Finn Throws a Fit. Yesterday was our fit. Today, we're ready for the peaches, please. :) They'll understand. We ended our meeting by sharing one good and positive thing from yesterday. For Word Study, instead of taking a test where students have only memorized the spelling of specific words, we played word games and focused on creating words that fit this week's generalization. Did your child play Scrabble Slam? Boggle? Jitters? Words in my Head? Spill n spell? We continued with the writing process in Writer's Workshop and some students got the bananas for the ice cream sundae! Again, they'll understand. We began Part Two of Wonder and learned about Auggie from Via-his sister's perspective. We discussed our character analysis from the previous day and then read independently, met with me or visited the library. In Math Workshop, we checked out some videos on LearnZillion and received our login information so we can use this resource. I explained as having me there to help with math when I'm not at home or like when they want to know how to do something so they find a youtube video to teach them. LearnZillion is like youtube videos for math! (The LZ codes for the videos are on my Canvas page and they can get on and show you.) Then, we went over our work from yesterday about 10 times bigger and practiced a little place and value. Our day concluded with creating a Friday padlet (can also be found on Canvas or by going to padlet.com/heather_lambrig/Friday9_18 ), played a little ST Math, finished our OSW (Ohio Studies Weekly) or completed our balance inquiry in Science. Friday is a little bit of a catch up day sometimes.

Wednesday and Thursday
Last night was Parent EdCamp and I organized the event so sorry about the two-day blog today... Thank you to those that participated last night-I hope you enjoyed the experience!
Yesterday, in the classroom, we started with our morning meeting. In our meeting, we read, The North Star by Peter Reynolds. It's a book about following your own journey and accepting where it might take you. It was a great read and went really nicely with the book we read the other day, There and our goal setting. If needed, we adapted our goal from the previous day with discussion about why are we changing as well as why haven't we accomplished. In Word Study, we did Prove-it! to show that we understood the generalization--short vowel sounds. We talked about the Writing Process and related it to building an ice cream sundae. Then, we got our 'dishes' for pre-writing/brainstorming a piece of writing. We finally were able to read, Wonder! It was a very poignant part of the story where Auggie overhears Jack Will saying extremely bad things about him...and he thought Jack was his friend...I finally met with some kiddos for a reading group too! I love this small group time to really dive into the process of reading and what we are doing to help in making kids better readers! I had been dying to start pulling groups! In the afternoon, we had a number talk and continued to develop our mental efficiency. We reviewed the idea of 10 times bigger and completed day 2 of our choice activities. I was able to meet with everyone in a small group setting to assess their math thinking too. (Did I mention I love pulling small groups?!) Finally, we completed-mostly-our balance inquiry.
Today, with the substitute, they were supposed to complete a vocabulary game with their word study words for Word Study and write questions they have about anything in their writer's notebooks for Writer's Workshop. The Recess Queen about "Mean Jean" was read aloud while they worked on a character analysis of Mean Jean. Then, during Reader's Workshop, they were to read independently and complete a character analysis of the main character from their independent read. We had a shortened Math Workshop due to Guidance so in Math, they reviewed the ideas of place, value and ten times bigger. Finally, they finished up their Ohio Studies Weekly or their balance inquiry. I hope they didn't leave me a mess and I'm sure they'll let you know if anything good went on without me today. I think there may have been a birthday treat...

First sub?
Well, they did well with their first substitute. They were talkative (shocking!) but quieted down during Reader's Workshop. (They do love their reading time!) This morning, they continued thinking about setting their goal from yesterday and why or why not they accomplished it and if they needed to write a new one. Some were very excited to tell me that they wrote new ones-which allowed me to assume that they accomplished their goal from yesterday. :) Then, they sorted their spelling words by short vowel sound and wrote in their writer's notebooks about what comforts them. The substitute read, You're Finally Here, and they discussed the character traits of the main character but also why we feel this way about the character. They also answered some questions about the main character from our Story Works story about some of the character traits he showed and some of the motivations behind his actions. I gave a very fun little demonstration on efficiency before our Number Talk today (you'll have to ask them about it) but they used different and mostly more efficient strategies today. Then, we reviewed the places and values of numbers through the millions and did some fun activities with this as well as added the idea that each "place" is 10 times bigger than the previous place. We used Leon to show this! We also chuckled when discussing the value or worth of a kiddo as they were the digits. So, some weren't very happy that others were worth more than them. During choice time, they played some games and completed some work with these concepts as well as some 3rd grade review ideas. I also met with about 1/2 of them to be sure that they were on the right track and they completed their first Exit Slip today to give me guidance of if they understand the 10 times bigger concept. Finally, they were introduced to our Ohio Studies Weekly magazine/newspaper. They reviewed some map skills and completed a crossword puzzle about the information in the magazine. We learned how to use skimming, key words and heading titles to help us be successful.

There?
We began our day with goal setting in our morning meeting. We read, There, which discussed where There is and will we know when we get There? Through our conversation, we realized that our There's can all be different and there are different paths and journeys to get to our own There. Then, we set a goal for the day. Just a small, S.M.A.R.T. goal for the day. Once we reach our daily goals, we'll set longer goals but thought it better to start small. In Word Study, we took a pre-test and made our new lists. This was a process! Sometimes I wonder if these kiddos had TOO many choices and now just hate to follow specific details and directions! :) Then, we went to the Library Media Center and had a lesson with Mrs. Richardson about genres. This will help us tremendously with our 30-book challenge. Did your kiddo share this with you yet? Discussing this challenge took up the remaining time we had before special. We had a number talk after recess and while students are sharing great strategies, they seem to be stagnant in trying a more efficient one-we'll keep working on this. Our focus for Math Workshop today was the place and value of numbers. Yes, those terms are different. Each number has a place (ones, tens, hundreds...) but also a value (in 123, 456 the 4 is worth 400 but is in the hundreds place.) This is going to be a big focus so please help your kiddo to keep these terms separate. Finally, we ended our day with Science and working with our balance inquiry.

TGIF
Ask your kiddo what my TGIF stands for. :) For morning meeting today, we focused on the Pledge of Allegiance with it being September 11. We read, The Flag We Love and discussed our country's flag as a symbol of our country and the freedom it represents. Then, we discussed the vocabulary of the Pledge and what we are really saying when we say our Pledge each day. We did a little cut and paste and coloring activity too-just for fun. Next, it was time to personalize our Writer's Notebooks! Oh my goodness-this was fun and messy but made them take ownership for this place as their place to keep ideas. We didn't get to read Wonder today as we took extra time personalizing... We also had a shortened Reader's Workshop but were able to still read independently, visit the library and complete our Wordle about ourselves if we hadn't yet. Music was fun and we even earned a potato head piece for our hallway behavior getting there! After lunch and recess, I was surprised and little happy to see that they were bummed that we weren't having a Number Talk. (That might sound bad but I love that they like this learning portion of our day!) Anyway, they weren't bummed for too long when I brought the computers in and they saw that we would be working on them instead. We learned a little about ST Math and then did our password training and even began some of the challenges too. Our day ended with a Maps and Globes review with making a book. I'm glad we did it too because they needed it!

Wow.
Oh my goodness--we LOVE to talk! It isn't the ENTIRE class and I'm starting to notice the repeat offenders with being overly chatty and loud. We'll take one more day with reminders and warnings but you may be receiving written notice about talking with your child about their behavior. Every student shall be safe and able to learn and if we're loud and talking, that's not possible.
Morning meeting was greeting each other by name with an "H"-ask your kiddo what this is. Then, we shared what we had for breakfast (a lot of sugar!) then we played a High/Low game where we practiced talking loud and soft. For Word Study today, we played Spelling Roll-a-word with our high frequency words. This was good practice to review what definition, synonym and antonyms are. Next week, we'll get new words. We worked in our Writer's Notebooks again today and this time went outside to capture what we can see and hear. (Check out twitter for pictures!) Auggie expressed his sensitive side today in Wonder and how hard and exhausting it is to be brave. All in all, his first month at school has been ok, I think. Our character focus then led us to make a list of character traits. We then used these to: create a Wordle about ourselves, read independently and write down characteristics of the main character from our book. We made it to Art--a little late because we had difficulty lining up... However, Mrs. Bowers said Art went very well. Our Number Talk focused again on using "friendly" numbers to help solve larger problems-- 116 + 29 = Next, we got our Pre-tests back and set a goal for this unit. We also came up with ideas on how to best reach our goal. During work time, we also completed a task on dividing newspapers and played "Clear the Board." Our Math Chat revealed that we feel strengths and weaknesses in this unit and set goals so that we have an endpoint or destination and know what we need to do to get there. Finally, our day ended with Science Inquiry.

What day is it...?
Oh my goodness! I made some posters laying out the framework for each "subject" and things went less chaotically today. We'll keep these up and hopefully will help to keep us on track and into a routine. During morning meeting, we practiced greeting each other with a proper handshake. Then, we shared who in our family we enjoy spending time with and why. (I loved hearing these stories!) Finally, we played, "Just Like Me!" to find our similarities. We took a buddy test over our high frequency words and then discussed our Writer's Notebooks--a place just for us to "write without boundaries. *A paper came home today about this as well as bringing in materials to decorate/personalize our Notebook covers. We also checked out Wonderopolis.com and then brainstormed a list of things we wonder. In Wonder, Auggie made it through lunch and found a new friend, Summer. He also really enjoys his English teacher, as do I, and his Precepts. The Precept for September is: Choose Kind. In Gym today, Mr. Burkhart said that we needed a little more work settling down and transitioning and actively listening. Hmmm...I've heard that somewhere before... :) After lunch and recess, we had a Number Talk and then took a pre-test over Unit 1. We worked on a problem-solving task and wrote some reflections about our first weeks in Math Workshop and then had an EXCELLENT math chat. I was so impressed by their reflections and understanding of the problem-solving. They shared their feelings, listened and "piggy-back"ed off others too. They truly reflected and learned about themselves as learners and mathematicians! Finally, we worked in Science on our Inquiry Balance work. Some of us are doing better with group work than others but it was the first day with this and hopefully, we'll get better.
Please help to remind your kiddos about listening actively, transitioning quietly and efficiently and making the most of our time together at school. Thank you for helping me with this!!

Thankful!
Today was a great day and I am so thankful that we had a 3-day weekend so that I felt more rested to begin the week! I'm still feeling like things are a little chaotic so this week we will be working on nailing down our procedures and routines. We were able to snag the computer carts this morning so we took advantage of that by typing our Important Paragraphs into our Google Drive. Your kiddos can continue working on this from home too! (hilliardschools.org --> student tab --> elementary eschool) Once they get to eschool, they should be good to go! We also took our Scholastic Reading Inventory. This gives us a look into your child as a reader. I'll use this, along with all the notes and observations I make in the classroom and an assessment (Fountas and Pinnell or F & P) that I'll be giving them in a week or two, to help guide my instruction and meet the needs of your child. Then, we were able to read a little bit from Wonder and made some predictions for Auggie and school. After Music, lunch and a smoldering recess, we had a Number Talk making friendly numbers. Next, we continued setting up our effective math workshop by playing a game, The Great Number Round Up where we practiced rounding numbers. We visited Mrs. Richardson and Mrs. Miller in the Library Media Center today and even got to check out books! When we returned to the classroom, we completed a few math word problems to help build our stamina and get the brain exercising mathematically. Finally, we completed a pre-test in Science about balancing. We'll be beginning our Inquiry projects this week.

Better!
This week, we worked on transitioning quietly and without socializing. Today, we finally did a good job with it and earned a potato head piece for our hallway walking and Art! In our morning meeting, we discussed new roles as a 4th grader--Safety Patrol and News Crew. We also discussed our goal of transitioning quietly and revisited all the posters we've been making about school and what we are supposed to do here-LEARN! Then, we went on a word hunt for the high frequency words on our list. (I found since a lot!) Next, we wrote our Important Paragraphs...The important thing about ___ is ___. What is your kiddo's most important thing? In Wonder, Auggie saw the beginning of how mean kids can be. It is also his first day of school! I introduced StoryWorks-a literacy magazine that we will be using for Reader' Workshop. We read the fiction story and perused the magazine. We got "book worms" too for "Real" reading. :) This afternoon, after our Number Talk, Mrs. Firestone-our literacy and math coach for ADE, came in to get to the know the class and played, "Clear the Board" with them. It's a game that I'm sure we'll re-visit over and over again this year. The video we watched today was about how we NEED to make mistakes in math for our brain to grow. It's another really good one. You may be able to find it on you tube--by Jo Boaler. We persevered through solving Pascal's Triangle. It was tough but I saw a TON of mathematical thinking! Loved it! Finally, our day ended with completing our Ohio Posters.

Tuesday AND Wednesday
I'm so sorry that I didn't blog last night...My hands hurt so bad! (I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and this back to school stuff has been tough on me.) Anyway, here is what we did yesterday and today!
In our morning meeting, we got into groups and each group had the goal of making the longest chain possible. (You can check out pictures on our Twitter and Facebook pages.) They thought they'd all be the same length because they started with the same size piece of paper but nope. Then, we read, The Important Book and focused on the way the author chose to write the book, more than the message of it--describing things, repeating first and last sentences, opinion. Students then brainstormed important things about themselves. In Wonder, we learned a little more about Auggie and wrote our ideas in our Read Aloud spirals. We will use these each day to record our thoughts, ideas and questions. We then focused this same way while reading independently and recorded a thought about the text on a post-it note. After lunch and recess and Music, we had a Number Talk where kiddos use strategies and mental math to solve a string of problems. Then, we watched a short video on how we learn math by making mistakes. Again, we are still setting up our math workshop so not into much content yet. After math, Mrs. Shively came in to read a book and teach us about empathy and compassion. First, she read, My Brother Charlie that a girl wrote about her brother with Autism. Then, we put on gloves and used our non-dominant hand to write our names. We also used special goggles and tried to throw a ball to a friend.
Today, we began our day with Guidance with Mrs. Vidic. Then, we worked on our high frequency words by looking for patterns or helpful hints and making some flash cards. (Some kiddos went for a Boy Scout meeting.) We learned more about Auggie in Wonder and did some "real reading." After gym, lunch and recess, we had another successful number talk and then began our math workshop with folding paper showing fractions. We watched a video that showed that math is a SLOW process and you don't need speed to be successful. Unfortunately, I don't think they all believe that yet because they rushed through and needed me to point out the intention of the lesson. We also had our first fire drill and earned a potato head piece for our awesome behavior! Finally, since Social Studies in 4th grade is all about Ohio, we made a list of what we know already about Ohio and then worked on an All About Ohio poster.
Whew-busy two days!!
