Thankful!
Today was a great day and I am so thankful that we had a 3-day weekend so that I felt more rested to begin the week! I'm still feeling like things are a little chaotic so this week we will be working on nailing down our procedures and routines. We were able to snag the computer carts this morning so we took advantage of that by typing our Important Paragraphs into our Google Drive. Your kiddos can continue working on this from home too! (hilliardschools.org --> student tab --> elementary eschool) Once they get to eschool, they should be good to go! We also took our Scholastic Reading Inventory. This gives us a look into your child as a reader. I'll use this, along with all the notes and observations I make in the classroom and an assessment (Fountas and Pinnell or F & P) that I'll be giving them in a week or two, to help guide my instruction and meet the needs of your child. Then, we were able to read a little bit from Wonder and made some predictions for Auggie and school. After Music, lunch and a smoldering recess, we had a Number Talk making friendly numbers. Next, we continued setting up our effective math workshop by playing a game, The Great Number Round Up where we practiced rounding numbers. We visited Mrs. Richardson and Mrs. Miller in the Library Media Center today and even got to check out books! When we returned to the classroom, we completed a few math word problems to help build our stamina and get the brain exercising mathematically. Finally, we completed a pre-test in Science about balancing. We'll be beginning our Inquiry projects this week.
